Here at Lucky Hens we try to do our best within our local community to help, even if it's only in a small way!
Youth Offending Team -
Alison & Dane have opened their home to the community, along with youth offenders, giving the children a chance to stop them from having a criminal record.
They help around the rescue with the day to day tasks that need to be done. Also they learn about how the rescue is evolving, and where their food comes from, and basic skills of how to become self sufficient, growing veggies and much more.
We have also received the following feedback:
I am writing to thank you for your fantastic support in offering work placements for young people subject to statutory and voluntary reparation interventions. As I know your aware the young people open to Restorative Solutions are some of the most complex, disengaged, and hard to reach young people in the Borough, young people with risk factors associated with anti-social and offending behavior, substance misuse issues and a lack of school attendance to name but a few.
We’ve received excellent feedback from our young people in relation to your project both in terms of your engagement with them and also in relation to the variety of tasks and activities they have participated in. As a result of the placement you’ve provided young people have been given opportunities to make amends for their actions by paying something back into the community in terms of reparation work. In addition to this you have also created opportunities for young people to learn a variety of new skills that will benefit them in the future.
On behalf of Wigan Restorative Solutions Team and Wigan Youth Offending Team I would like to thank you for your continued support and for making a positive contribution to the lives of young people in the Borough.
